Build a Better Web
Open Web Camp IV is on! Hold the Date: Saturday July 14th - Registration opening soon!
The good folks at PayPal in San Jose have agreed to be our host this year, and we are both thankful and relieved to have found a new home for OWC. Through the kind sponsorship of some of the Web's leading tech firms, as well as the generous contribution of speakers time, we have managed to create a fun, interesting and special Bay Area event that last year attracted approximately 300 attendees, and we're looking forward to carrying on this tradition again this summer. If you or your company would like to be part of this event, please let us know - we are actively seeking out sponsors today.
We've already managed to line up more awesome speakers for OWC IV, and we've got the gremlins busy revamping our site so that we can formally announce them and their sessions in the next few days. We hope to be able to open registration by the end of May, so check back often or follow us on twitter: @openwebcamp to stay in touch.
After some serious soul-searching we've also decided that this year we will be charging a nominal admission fee for Open Web Camp - and we mean nominal: $10.00 per person. Last year we experienced a 30% no-show rate that resulted in wasted food ordered and a situation where we had to turn away late-comers only to have the available space after all due to no-shows. Since we run Open Web Camp for the love of the web (and not for profit) any funds left after expenses will be donated to charity (and attendees will get to vote on which charity that should be). We are confident that you will understand our reasoning, and support our intent, and we thank you for your continued support of Open Web Camp
The organizing committee look forward to having you join us at Open Web Camp IV. See you then!
John, Thomas, Ed and Molly
(Until we get our registration form up and running, you can still see who joined us last year. We have not yet begun registration for Open Web Camp IV)
